Keith and myself have had a taster tonight. Wow. We both love it. I am quite partial to the odd glass of brandy and Keith likes port, so a great combination for us both to try.
It is lovely. Very smooth on the palette with a hint of something else. Keith says there is a taste of dark chocolate. I'm not sure but whatever it is it, it makes a lovely combination. Shame I had to share it lol.

I had the pleasure of trying a new after dinner drink from the guys at Portafortuna. This was a blend of brandy and port . At first I was slightly dubious as to wether these 2 spirits would work in unison but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
After leaving the mix to fuse at room temp for about half an hour I paired it with a couple of cheeses ( as that’s how I drink port). The subtle caramel undertones came through superbly well leaving a slight burnt aftertaste , there appeared to be a hint of smoky almonds and a crisp kick of brandy which left the palate ready for the next sip . The longer I left it the more it seemed to blend , with the port coming through which had a great contrast to the mouthfeel
Overall I liked the warmth this drink gave me especially with a creamy blue cheese paired with grapes it worked exceptionally well, I also saved a drop to add to a coffee which again was lovely and left no bitter aftertaste that sometimes can happen with a French coffee
The only downside of the blend was that I felt that it could have been slightly sweeter and maybe not quite so heavy on the brandy notes if aiming for a younger audience ( 25-40)

I was hugely surprised by the fruity aromas this drink brought to me, when I thought of port and brandy together, I didn't imagine I would get such a pleasant tangy taste. It was not harsh in the slightest and was absolutely lovely washed down just on its own. I don't feel this drink would need any mixture and I really think this will be a big hit! It really warmed me up this morning after a long night shift and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks again for the opportunity and I will definitely purchase this for the future!

Just wanted to let you know that we made our couple of videos over the weekend and they will go out on our little food and drink channel BIG OGGIE WORLD later this week.
Portafortuna XO from 8mins (opens in new window)
Our thoughts are quite simply that it’s delicious and an excellent after dinner drink.
You will see us discuss the drink in more detail on the videos but for now…
Both my wife and I really enjoyed it and have recommended it and will be purchasing it ourselves, that’s a good recommendation already.
Colour beautiful. Finish velvety almost glossy in the mouth.Taste, well I was surprised that it was smoother than I expected and as someone who drinks Irish whisky and good quality sipping rums I was kind of expecting a more spirit burn straight away. That didn’t happen and actually that was nice to see, I found it to be not too sweet and a more of a medium level, again something that you don’t get with many liqueur style drinks.
Kelly got the cherries right away and I likened it to Black Forest gateaux once I had had a couple of sips, that chocolate comes through so well…
Kelly absolutely loved it. And also the way it clinged a little to the glass.

So, I tried the Portafortuna after dinner drink yesterday with a vintage cheddar cheese, and it was really rich and fruity. It's definitely not like anything that's out on the market, to my knowledge. I imagine that it should be served just like port, on it's own straight from the bottle, or with a strong cheese that complements it's deep flavour.

Portafortuna is a new discovery for me. The name Portafortuna is very memorable and it has a deeper meaning, lucky charm. I love the name. The appearance of the bottle is also unique and looks attractive. The colour of the drink is makes me more attracted to it and of course the taste is brilliant. It has a taste of chocolate with a touch of orange and cherries which makes it very distinct. The smell of Portafortuna is so nice and makes me want to take a sip more. Love the total taste experience. I enjoyed the tasting experience. I'm gonna buy more bottles of Portafortuna and share it with my family and friends. It's highly recommended.

On opening the box I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the little bottle was. I opened the bottle and the aromas that hit me first was like a musty dark chocolate aroma, with a hint of brandy aroma. The first taste was very pleasant and i notice a slight aftertaste of bitterness. The taste I got was the brandy overpowering the taste of port. But overall I found it very nice. I would buy this for a special occasion.

I think I have found my new best friend with this new Portafortuna. It’s an amazing mix of dried fruits meets dark chocolate. I left it for a while to breath before taking a sip, it was like nothing I had tried before, not over sweet just enough to compliment the slightly burnt aftertaste. It's a very good mix of both the port and brandy and I will definitely try and get my hands on a bottle especially perfect for Christmas.
